DMAE or dimethylaminoethanol protects the bonds between collagen and elastin and is widely used in aesthetics for its firming and toning effects on both the face and body (toning treatment).
DMAE is mainly used to produce a tightening effect, it also acts as a collagen stimulator and as a pro-repairer of collagen and elastin fibres.
By using DMAE there are different synergistic results at different levels: increase in tension in the non-muscle cells of the dermis, increase in the cohesion and movement of keratinocytes, increase in hydration and elasticity of the stratum corneum, increase in the supply of nutrients and mechanisms of defense, uniforming the texture.
It also acts as an antioxidant and repairs collagen and elastin fibers from damage caused by free radicals.
Using dimethylaminoethanol as a functional substance it was observed during the research:

- increase in keratinocytes cohesion;
- hydration and elasticity booster of the stratum corneum;
